TWIG - The Word Is Grace
TWIG - The Word Is Grace is brought to you by The Carpenter's Shop, located at 1201 East Elmore Street in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Our Sabbath services begin at 3:30 every Saturday afternoon. Listen with us as Bible teachers Jim Denman and Tim Terry examine our faith in Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus), with a Hebraic perspective. What did Jesus eat? How did He dress? Is the Torah still valid to believers today? Did He really say that there are only two laws that we have to follow now? Did God change His requirements for salvation after the cross? Is the Sabbath on Sunday or Saturday; was it changed? Join us as we seek answers to these questions, with balance and a humble reverence for God's Word.

As we begin to study the book of Galatians with a historical, Hebraic perspective, we are immediately confronted with the topic of circumcision. Paul seems to have something else in mind when referring to being circumcised; after all, why would he say that the new believers were to be circumcised and keep the Law? After all, isn't circumcision a commandment within the Law?

In Paul's day, the act of being circumcised meant much more than simply fulfilling the commandment.

When this book was written, being circumcised meant becoming a Jew. Paul was letting the Galatians know that they did not have to become Jewish in order to serve this Jewish Messiah! Their salvation was a free gift, given to all who would become disciples of Yeshua, Jesus. As we will see, Paul also expected these new believers to observe God's Law (Torah)... but not as a way of salvation. Paul expected the Galatians to observe the Torah (Law) for the same reason he did... because he was saved.

If you have never heard these things taught before, I encourage you to check out everything being said here. You will be amazed at how the scriptures come alive when they are put back into their proper context.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,

Shabbat shalom!
